The High Court of Justice Minna Niger State, has granted interim injunction in favour of a Private Radio Station, the Badeggi Radio Broadcasting Services Ltd, restraining the Niger State  Government and its agencies from taking any adverse actions against the broadcasting company.

Justice Mohammed Mohammed ruled in favour of the applicants, Badeggi Radio Broadcasting Services Ltd and its Managing Director, Mohammed Shuaibu Badeggi, following a motion ex-parte brought before the court in Minna, Niger state.

The application cited various provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Nineteen ninety nine (as amended), in addition to the National Broadcasting Commission Act.

The court’s decision prevents the respondents, including the Niger State Governor, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice as well as Niger State Urban Development Board, from engaging in any actions that could jeopardize the company’s broadcasting license or business operations located at the N.T.A. Compound,  Uphill Minna.

Delivering the ruling, Justice Mohammed Mohammed  explained that the importance of maintaining the status quo pending the determination of the substantive motion became imperative.

The interim order specifically prohibits actions such as revocation, withdrawal, seizure, or any forceful entry and demolition at the broadcasting premises.

Counsel to the applicants, Philip  Emmanuel Esq, expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling, highlighting its significance for the protection of the applicants’ rights and interest.

The matter will be scheduled for further hearing, allowing for a comprehensive examination of the issues at stake.
