The wife of the Jigawa State Governor, Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi, has commemorated this year’s International Children’s Day with a lively event held in Babura Local Government Area.
The celebration featured student performances and a Spelling Bee competition, bringing together pupils from various schools across the area.
The event was organized by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Universal Basic Education, Comrade Ali Mati Ali.
In her remarks, Hajiya Amina praised the students for their participation and reaffirmed the state government’s strong commitment to child welfare and educational development.
Comrade Ali Mati Ali explained that the event aimed to use the global observance to inspire children and emphasised the government’s focus on enhancing education and youth empowerment in Jigawa.
He also thanked the First Lady and the Chairman of Babura LGA for their support in making the event successful.

Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of Babura Local Government, Honourable Hamisu Muhammad Garu, highlighted recent initiatives to address the problem of out-of-school children, including the distribution of writing materials, school uniforms, and bags to pupils.
He reiterated the local government’s dedication to aligning with the state’s education-driven agenda to improve access and quality across schools in the area.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards to schools that performed outstandingly in the day’s competitions, reinforcing the message of excellence and educational support.
The celebration served as a vibrant platform to inspire young minds and promote continued investment in their future.
