Gusau Local Government Council in Zamfara has provided educational support to over one thousand youths currently studying in various tertiary institutions within the state and across the country.

The Council Chairman, Abubakar Imam Gusau, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Imam Gusau said the initiative is part of the council’s commitment to complement the efforts of the Zamfara State Governor in raising the standard of education and investing in the future of the state’s youth.

“In line with our administration’s vision and in support of Governor Dauda Lawal’s reform agenda, we have prioritized education by offering scholarships and financial support to over a thousand students pursuing higher education.”

According to him, all the education and other support were carried out within six months of his assumption of duty as elected council chairman.

The initiatives, according to Barrister Abubakar, have equipped many young people with practical skills and other trades, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute positively to the local economy.

Imam Gusau said In the health sector, the Council has supplied essential drugs and other medical consumables to various healthcare centers across Gusau, thereby strengthening healthcare delivery and reducing the burden on the state health system.

He also said the council had rolled out a series of impactful interventions aimed at empowering farmers across the area, particularly reviving the agricultural sector by providing necessary support to smallholder farmers who form the backbone of the local economy.

“As part of the initiative, the council distributed farm inputs, including bags of fertilizer, improved seedlings, herbicides, and farming tools, to hundreds of registered farmers from various wards within the local government.

Abubukar Imam Gusau pointed out that farmers are the engine of local development, saying that supporting them means strengthening food security, improving incomes, and reducing poverty.”

“We are determined to make agriculture more attractive and productive, especially for our youth and women.”

The Council Chairman further commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his administration’s commitment to infrastructure and human capital development.

He noted that the governor’s achievements across various sectors are evident and worthy of recognition by all well-meaning citizens of the state.

“We have never had a governor like Dr. Dauda Lawal in Zamfara State because of how he has set the state on the right path in terms of improving security, enhancing the lives of the people, boosting education and healthcare, and developing agriculture, among other key sectors.”

“Wherever there is a good leader, as youths, we too should come up with a plan to contribute our own support in that area.”

“Governor Dauda Lawal has changed the narrative in Zamfara, from massive road construction and rehabilitation projects to the renovation of public schools and hospitals and the revitalization of the civil service. His impact is visible. Our support at the local government level is aligned with his development agenda,” he added.

Abubakar Imam reaffirmed the readiness of Gusau Local Government to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and rural development.

With these efforts, Gusau Local Government is positioning itself as a model of grassroots development, echoing the transformative leadership style of Governor Dauda Lawal across Zamfara State.
