Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi has declared that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will soon lose its remaining National Assembly seats in the state, signaling what he described as the “death knell” for the party in Jigawa.

Speaking during the weekly “Gwamnati Da Jama’a” (Government and People) citizen engagement programme held in Dutse Local Government Area, Governor Namadi emphasized the growing dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state, especially in areas still represented by the PDP.

He pointed directly to the PDP-held seats in Jigawa Central Senatorial Zone, Dutse-Kiyawa, and Birnin Kudu-Buji federal constituencies, asserting that their days in the National Assembly were numbered.

“The senator representing this zone and the House members from Dutse, Kiyawa, Buji, and Birnin Kudu should begin to count their days,” he declared.

The governor praised the high turnout and support from Dutse residents as evidence of APC’s rising popularity, commending the community’s loyalty and engagement with government initiatives.

He also reiterated his administration’s dedication to inclusive governance and people-centered development.

Namadi used the occasion to reaffirm President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to key federal projects in Jigawa, including the Greater Dutse water supply project, the Maradi–Dutse railway, and the Kano–Maiduguri highway.

Community elders presented a documented list of development needs, to which the governor pledged action within the current and future budget cycles.

He emphasized his government’s responsiveness to grassroots demands.

Before the main event, Governor Namadi commissioned the Kurungu–Katangar Lafiya road construction and oversaw the distribution of furniture to 30 newly married orphan girls, facilitated by the local government.

The event was attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, civil society representatives, and residents, reinforcing its reputation as a vital bridge between government and the people.
