Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has pledged his administration’s full support to improve the working and living conditions of police personnel in the the state.

Governor Lawal made the commitment during an official visit and tour of facilities at the headquarters of the Zamfara Police Command in Gusau, where he assessed the condition of police facilities and met with senior police officers.

He stressed that, effective policing is critical to national development and the fight against insecurity.

Governor Lawal emphasized the need for better training, improve Walfare and accommodations for police officers.

He noted that neglecting those needs would only worsen corruption and insecurity.

“I am happy to be here today to personally assess the condition of our police force,” the governor said. “If we truly want the police to function effectively in this country, we must take two key steps—comprehensively overhaul the judicial system and prioritize the welfare of our security operatives.”

“I came here with my entire team the Special Adviser on Infrastructure, the Commissioners for Security and Housing because we are ready to act,”

“We will work in collaboration with the police command to identify and address your most pressing needs in order of priority.”

He added that the plan would begin with renovations at the headquarters and eventually extend to divisional commands.

On the importance of maintenance, the governor appealed to officers: “We will provide you with new structures and furniture, but please maintain them. Let us work together to ensure sustainability.”

Earlier in his remarks, Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Maikaba, expressed gratitude to the governor for his visit and continued support.

According to hi, the visit was a great honor to the command, stressing that, his Excellency has seen the dilapidated nature of their facilities and promised to help.

“We deeply appreciate your efforts in strengthening security in the state”

Maikaba also noted the significant improvement in the security situation across Zamfara, attributing the progress to the state government’s commitment and support.

“With your continued assistance, I assure you that the police will deliver beyond expectations,”

Governor Lawal concluded by reiterating his administration’s commitment to creating a secure environment for all Zamfara residents, promising continued visits to assess and support police operations throughout the state.
