The World Bank has praised Jigawa State for its exceptional performance in the implementation of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (AcReSAL) project, citing the state’s leadership, transparency, and commitment as exemplary.

This commendation was delivered by the World Bank’s AcReSAL Task Team Leader, Dr. Joy Agene, during a courtesy visit to Governor Malam Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse.

She described the governor as one of the most dedicated and honest leaders among the states engaged in the project.

Dr. Agene noted that Jigawa emerged as one of the best-performing states in a recent evaluation of World Bank-supported projects.

She attributed the success to the state’s effective multi-sectoral coordination and strong community-level engagement.

“Jigawa State consistently stands out in our assessments,” she said. “The level of transparency and focus on community impact aligns perfectly with AcReSAL’s objectives.”

She further explained that the World Bank team was in the state on a due diligence mission to assess progress, identify strengths and gaps, and provide guidance for improved implementation.

Governor Namadi expressed gratitude for the recognition and affirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining the project’s impact.

He highlighted the benefits Jigawa has recorded through AcReSAL, including water supply, erosion control, and mitigation of environmental degradation.

He also commended Dr. Agene for her integrity and professionalism, assuring her of continued support and accountability from the state.

AcReSAL is a World Bank-funded initiative designed to build climate resilience in Nigeria’s semi-arid regions through sustainable land and water management and improved livelihoods.
