The Association of Onion and Wheat Farmers and Dealers has applauded the commitment of the Jigawa State Government in promoting peace and ensuring the resumption of farming activities in Kirikasamma and neighboring local government areas.

Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Dauda Modu Marma stated this when Governor Umar Namadi made a stop over at the Marma Onion market to interact with the farmers and Dealers on the progress of farming activities in the area.

He announced the gift of Onion bags on behalf of the famers to Governor Umar Namadi in appreciation of his effort at restoring peace and agricultural activities in the area.

The chairman explained that customers are visiting the market from neighboring countries unlike in the past, and thanked the Governor for introducing policies and programs aimed at agriculture in the state.

In his remarks, Governor Umar Namadi said the state government will continue to promote agriculture as one of the twelve point agenda of his administration.

He expressed delight over the achievements so far recorded in food security and wealth creation among the youths.

The Governor also fagg off the construction of an international vegetables market by the chairman of Guri local Government area, giving an assurance that the state government is ready to support any initiative that will boost commerce and the economic well-being of the people.
