Federal Government has been urged to expedite the release of the ₦750 billion bond funds promised in February this year.

Chairman of the National Union of Pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme, Mr. Sylva Nwaiwu, made the appeal in reaction to the delayed payment of pension arrears to retired workers across the country, which he said has negatively impacted their welfare.

Mr. Nwaiwu recalled that the Director-General of PENCOM had, in February, assured retirees that the bonds would mature after three months, which ends this month.

He lamented that many retirees have died while waiting for their entitlements and urged those who have yet to register with the various pension unions to do so without further delay.
