Jigawa State Government is to introduce free drugs to diabetes, hypertension and sickle cell patients across the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad Kainuwa, stated this to newsmen in Dutse.

According to him, Governor Umar Namadi has already given the directive to present the proposal for the implementation of the program aimed at improving the health of the people of the state, especially those with low income.

Dr. Abdullahi Kainuwa further explained that, the state government is currently completing the new orthopedic hospital Gumel at the cost of 380 million naira.

He added that a contract will be awarded for the procurement of equipment for the orthopedic hospital worth 600 million naira.

The Commissioner also said that the state government has completed the construction of dialysis centers in Dutse, Ringim, and Kazaure generals hospitals.

Kainuwa said, contracts will soon be awarded for the procurement of dialysis equipment for the hospitals before the end of the year.

He said, free dialysis services are already ongoing in the hospitals in the towns of Gumel and Hadejia general hospitals.
