The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority, KWARTMA, has deployed its officers to strategic locations across the state to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
Speaking in Ilorin, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of KWARTMA, Engineer Bamidele Michael, said increased movement is expected in the state capital and beyond, requiring effective traffic management.
He noted that special operations units have been stationed at key locations, including Eyenkorin, Oko-Olowo, Ganmon, and Zango, to support zonal operatives.
Personnel have also been assigned to control traffic, enforce regulations, conduct surveillance, and manage rescue and evacuation operations.
The Offa Area Office will oversee traffic along the Jimba-Oja, Ajase, Ijagbo, and Offa routes.
Engineer Bamidele, assured residents that KWARTMA is working closely with security agencies, including the armed forces and paramilitary units, to ensure safe and hitch-free movement before, during, and after the festivities.
He congratulated the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdurahman Abdulrasaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, and all Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan.
The KWARTMA boss urged road users to obey traffic regulations, avoid speeding, overloading, and using mobile phones while driving, to ensure a safe journey.
