The Kano State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has announced a comprehensive security plan to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.

CP Bakori disclosed this while briefing journalist at the headquarters of the command in Bompai, Kano.

He congratulated the Muslim community on the upcoming Sallah festivities and urged residents to sustain the prevailing peace in the state.

He revealed that the command has gathered necessary security information and consulted with critical stakeholders, which led to the decision to ban all Durbar activities during the celebrations.

“The ban on Durbar, a traditional horse-riding ceremony, was imposed due to credible security information that miscreants have been recruited to cause chaos and unrest.

“To prevent any potential flashpoints, the police have prohibited the carrying of objects that may raise tensions and the horse-riding ceremony, known as Hawan Sallah festivities”.

CP Bakori emphasized that the security agencies are determined to ensure and enforce law and order, urging parents to caution their children against any acts that may cause havoc.

Residents are also advised to report any suspicious movements to the security agencies.

The police command has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, and CP Bakori has called on community, religious, and opinion leaders to promote peace and unity during the celebrations.
