The Jigawa State Executive Council SEC, under the chairmanship of Governor Umar Namadi, has convened and deliberated on key policies and projects aimed at advancing the state’s development.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, in a statement, said the Council had approved the immediate distribution of ₦839.6 million in redeemed pledges to 210 victims of the Majia Tanker Fire Incident, including injured individuals and families of the deceased.

The Implementation Committee, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, has also been tasked with following up on unredeemed pledges.

To enhance education in the state, the Council approved ₦15.79 billion for the JigawaUNITE Programme, which focuses on technology-driven learning, teacher training, and improved educational outcomes.

It says A 30% mobilization payment of ₦4.73 billion will be made under an agreement with New Globe Education Services Limited for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

The Council also approved the full implementation of the Alternative Care for Children (ACC) Guidelines, which were proposed by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to protect vulnerable children and enhance their well-being.

Similarly, A bill to establish the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agency (JATA) was approved and forwarded to the State House of Assembly for legislative action.

The agency will drive agricultural reforms and boost food production in the state.

To tackle housing challenges for government officials, the Council approved the acquisition of a housing estate owned by Dantata & Sawoe for ₦650 million.

The estate includes various residential units, such as one-bedroom chalets, detached houses, bungalows, and driver’s quarters.

The resolutions reflect the Jigawa State Government’s commitment to social welfare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
