In a significant move to enhance healthcare access for women and children in Kano State, the Director-General of Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA), Pharmacist Gali Sule, has partnered with the Africa Health Budget Initiative (AHBN).

The partnership, which was formalized during a meeting between Sule and AHBN executives, aims to strengthen family planning initiatives, programs, and activities in the state.

According to him, the AHBN’s project seeks to increase awareness, participation, and engagement among governments and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Family Planning and Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health commitments.

Sule emphasized the importance of women’s health, noting that it is a cardinal principle of the DMCSA.

He highlighted the agency’s efforts to integrate the family planning program with the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme, in line with the current national policy.

Aqibu Hamisu, who led the AHBN delegation, commended the Kano State government for addressing stockouts of family planning commodities at primary healthcare centers.

Sulaiman Umar Jalo of AHBN and Nafisa Shehu Ibrahim from Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) expressed their appreciation to Sule for hosting them and pledged to contribute to improving maternal health in the state.
