Federal Pensioners Association has been advised to mobilize its members against the delayed settlement of arrears approved by the Federal Government.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Pensioners Association, Alhaji Muhammad Mamman, gave the advice in response to reports that the planned protest over the issue had been suspended following an appeal by the PTAD to allow for dialogue.

Alhaji Muhammad Mamman who expressed support for dialogue and four weeks ultimatum given by NIPOST branch of the National Union of Pensioners suggested expanded meeting of associations to ensure resolution of problems encountered in the payment of the arrears.

He was dismayed that despite several promises by the directorate to pay the benefits, retirees were yet to receive the money which should not be tolerated by the affected associations.

Alhaji Muhammad Mamman stressed the need for the associations to petition the National Assembly, EFCC and ICPC if dialogue on the issue fails to achieve desired objectives considering alleged misappropriation of pension funds in the past without adequate penalties to serve as deterrent.
