Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the temporary closure of Runway 18R at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMA) in Lagos for essential rehabilitation work.
The closure, which began at 3:00 AM on Monday, March 3, is expected to last until 11:59 PM on Tuesday, March 4.
Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, FAAN, Obiageli Orah, stated that the maintenance work aims to rehabilitate the asphalt phase of the A2 Taxiway link of the runway.
According to Mrs Orah, the maintenance is necessary to keep the Airport’s infrastructure in optimal condition and ensure the continued safety and efficiency of flight operations at Nigeria’s busiest international gateway.
During the closure, all international flights are being rerouted to the domestic runway and the agency assured airlines and passengers that this temporary measure will not significantly impact flight schedules.
The agency has urged passengers and airline operators to be aware of operational changes and adhere to all guidelines throughout the rehabilitation period.
FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety, security, and passenger convenience.
