The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has confirmed the indefinite postponement of the Qur’an convention, earlier slated for February 22, 2025.

A statement issued by Professor Is-haq Oloyede on behalf of the Sultan, announced the decision.

The convention, originally planned for 60,000 participants, received over 500,000 accreditation requests, far exceeding expectations. International scholars and foreign delegations have also shown keen interest, leading organizers to reconsider the event’s capacity.

After extensive consultations, organizers decided to reschedule the gathering to allow for better planning and accommodation.

A new date will be announced after Ramadan.

The Sultan of Sokoto appreciates the patience and support of all stakeholders and prays for Allah’s blessings on the successful hosting of the event.
