Governor Malam Umar Namadi has reiterated his dedication to transforming Jigawa State through the implementation of his administration’s 12-Point Agenda.
Speaking at a two-day leadership retreat in Gombe, he emphasized the need for teamwork and innovation among government officials to accelerate development and improve the lives of citizens.
The retreat brought together commissioners and heads of agencies to strategize on governance improvements.
With the theme “Ascending the Peak—Achieving Greater Jigawa Through Innovation and Leadership,” the retreat focused on leveraging technology, strengthening governance, and aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Governor Namadi acknowledged the progress made so far but stressed the urgency of completing ongoing projects and initiating new ones that directly benefit the people of Jigawa.
One key area of discussion was job creation, particularly for young people. Governor Namadi highlighted the J-Recruitment program, which has provided employment and empowerment opportunities in agriculture, small businesses, ICT, and public service.
He noted that thousands of youth have already benefited, contributing significantly to the state’s economic growth.
The administration’s focus on youth development remains a top priority, with various initiatives aimed at fostering self-reliance and productivity.
The governor also addressed the state’s increasing budget, which has grown by over 130% compared to the previous year.
He emphasized the importance of exploring alternative funding strategies, including public-private partnerships and maximizing internal resources.
He urged government agencies to collaborate more effectively, stating that joint efforts would lead to greater efficiency and cost savings.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who declared the retreat open, commended Jigawa’s developmental strides under Governor Namadi.
He praised the 12-Point Agenda as a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable development, covering key sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, investment promotion, and human capital development.
Governor Yahaya also highlighted Gombe’s achievements in business reforms and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the value of peer learning between states.
In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Jigawa State, Hamisu Mohammed Gume, said the retreat included expert-led discussions on strengthening governance, improving public service delivery, and leveraging technology to enhance administrative efficiency.
Participants explored innovative approaches to leadership, with a shared commitment to driving positive change in Jigawa State.
