Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed rumours circulating on social media suggesting that he has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Speculations began after a viral post on X, formerly known as Twitter, claimed El-Rufai had switched political allegiance.

However, El-Rufai took to his official X account on Sunday to refute the claims, describing them as “patent lies” and warning that legal actions are being considered against those spreading the rumours.

Significant figure

El-Rufai has been a significant figure in the ruling party, playing a key role in its formation and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The former governor remains influential in Nigerian politics, with many closely watching his next moves.
