Senate has assured commitments in ensuring legislative intervention is completed as scheduled to support the federal Government’s efforts in moving the country forward.

The Senate president, Ahmad Lawan made the commitment while addressing his colleagues on their resumption from recess, this Tuesday.

He said the Senate would equally attached importance to other legislations that felt would foster economic viability of the country.

He cited the issue of 2021 appropriation bill, the Petroleum Industry Bill which is currently in the process with report expected to be completed before the end of April, considering it’s importance in boosting the economy.

According to him, the review of the 1999 constitution is equally important before the Senate and its constitutional review committee is on top of the situation to ensure relevant laws for the socio economic and electoral plans of the country are look in to for effectiveness.

Senator Ahmad Lawan emphasised that the senate was ready to partner with any arm of Government in ensuring crisis situations were under control for sustainable development.

He however urged Nigerians to make good use of the social media in promoting unity and harmony among Nigerians instead of using it for negetive purposes.

Prior to this however, the Senate President had read six letters from President Muhammadu Buhari seeking the confirmation of the Senate on some nominees in various positions in Governance, including the names of the recently retired service chiefs.

He added that the request had been forwarded to the appropriate committees of the Senate for legislative interventions.
