Kwara State Government has distributed about three thousand (3,000) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to livestock farmers and value chain operators to improve their business in the State.

Speaking at the flagg- off of the programme organised by the state Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project(L-PRES) in Ilorin, Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said the initiative is part of government deliberate efforts to enhance the safety of livestock farmers, and protect the health of value chain operators from zoonotic disease.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Jiddah,the Governor affirmed that the programme became a reality following the payment of the state counterpart funds for the project.

He said the state government would continue to provide the enabling environment to attract developmental projects to the state.

AbdulRazaq assured livestock farmers of his administration’s commitment to further improve the sector and the wellbeing of the people in livestock business across the state.

He advised them to remain vigilant and report suspicious movement in their localities to the security agencies for prompt action.

On her part, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Afolashade Oluwakemi urged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the items for the purpose they are meant for.

She appeal to them to shun all acts that may derail government intention to support the sector.

In his remarks, Kwara State Chairman of Butchers Association, Alhaji Salihu Dangote, commended the state government for recognizing their contribution to the development of the state, adding that the items distributed would improve their business.

Earlier in his address the Kwara State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye said the distribution of the Personal Protective Equipments(PPE) would ensure safety of the livestock farmers, butchers, meat processors, and other livestock value chain operators in their daily activities.
