Gombe State Fadama NG-Cares through the State Ministry of Agriculture has inaugurated the distribution of agricultural assets and farm inputs to beneficiaries in the state.

The State Commissioner of Budget and Planning Alh. Salihu Baba-Alkali inaugurated the fourth phase of the distribution in the state at a brief ceremony held in Kwami town of Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe.

Alh Baba-Alkali said the gesture was to support the poor and vulnerable farmers in the state in line with the agenda of the administration of Gov Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State to alleviate poverty and create wealth for its citizens.

He said the implementation of the Fadama GO-CARES in the state had so far benefitted 47, 482 persons across the state while 32 projects had been executed.

The Commissioner said aside giving agriculture inputs and assets to support farmers in the state, earth dams, rural road, culverts, drainages and upgrades of water and sanitary facilities had been provided for the benefit of several rural dwellers.

He said that the priority given to the agriculture sector was in view of the need to leverage the sector to create employment while boosting food security and eradicating poverty.

On his part, the Gombe State Commissioner of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives Dr. Barnabas Malle said the distribution would be sustained across the state to ensure that those who were yet to be reached, also benefit.

He, however warned against selling the inputs, adding that the items were for the beneficiaries to improve their standard of living by making use of them.

Also speaking the State Coordinator, FADAMA GO-CARES Dr. Babayo Makka implored farmers who were yet to benefit to exercise patience, noting that the distribution was being done in phases so that they would be captured with time.

He said the intervention had shown the commitment of the government towards improving the lives and economic fortunes of the poor and vulnerable persons in the state.
