In Zamfara, a local Non Governmental Organization, the Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI), has conducted a sensitization program to help residents overcome barriers to accessing justice.

Project Officer, Mr. Buhari Ya’u Moriki announced the initiative in Gusau on Sunday.

The program, titled “Awareness and Advocacy Campaign for Increased Access to Justice,” took place in Tsafe, Bilbis, Birnin-Magaji, and Nasarawa-Godel communities.

The program was conducted in collaboration with International Alert, under a project aimed at promoting stability, justice, and accountability in North West Nigeria.

Country Director, Paul Nyulaku, represented by National Project Manager, Mr. Sunday Momoh Jimoh, and National Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Officer, Mrs. Fatima Saidu Inusa, praised the community’s participation.

They highlighted the project’s focus on inclusive participation in alternative dispute resolution and providing platforms for marginalized groups, particularly women, to voice their concerns and combat sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

Moriki said that 180 participants, including religious and community leaders, youths, women, people with disabilities, and minority groups, took part in the sessions.

The program aimed to educate them on addressing barriers to justice and reducing SGBV in their communities.

He urged stakeholders to collaborate in further sensitizing community members on seeking justice, especially regarding SGBV issues.
