The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has commenced investigation into the accident which occurred on Tuesday in Lagos.

In a statement, the NSIB said the accident which occurred around after 3pm WAT involved a Jabiru J430; a light single airplane with Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-CCQ operated by Air First Hospitality & Tours.

It said the aircraft was on a test flight within Lagos with two passengers onboard before it crashed around Oba Akran area of Lagos State with no fatality.

According to the NSIB, the aircraft caught fire on impact, but the spread was contained by the rainfall and the two occupants on board were taken to the hospital.

The NSIB called on the public to assist the bureau with pictures, video or recording evidence to aid the conduct of a comprehensive investigation.

Governor Sanwo-Olu visited accident scene

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has visited the scene of the light single airplane crash in Ikeja and appealed to those who had gathered on the road to leave to ease traffic flow in the axis.

Governor Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday returned from a trip to Cotonou, Benin Republic with President Bola Tinubu where he attended the 63rd independence of that country.

He acknowledged the two men who were the first responders at the accident scene.

As at the time of filing in this report, the wreckage of the aircraft had been evacuated from the accident scene by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA)
