Speaker House of Representatives Dr Abbas Tajuddeen, has appealed to the National Association of Resident Doctors NARD to suspend it’s impending strike action while the House intervene to resolve the matter amicably.

The Spekaer made the appeal during a meeting with leadership of the Association and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health in his office Abuja.

Dr Abbas Tajuddeen who appreciated the patriotism and sacrifices of the Association despite many challenges it’s members were facing in their places of work, assured that the 10th House would deploy every legislative instruments to ensure they are fully compensated.

The Speaker also reminded the Association on the need to understand the fact that the new administration under Bola Ahmad Tinubu had just came on board and is on the process of settling down as Ministers are yet to assume office for proper operations.

He said although, revenues available to the government may not fully meet the nation’s demands, Government would do everything possible to find a middle ground that satisfies everyone without prejudice to the 2023 Memorandum of Understanding.

The number four citizen noted that the Association’s demands which include payment of 2023 Medical Residency Training Fund, upward review of Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and salary arrears of 2015, and more issues can be resolved without embarking on strike.

Dr Abbas further urged them to take advantage of the meeting to bare their minds on the issues at stake and suggest realistic solutions to them.
