Coordinator KCBL Mr Hassan Sufyan

Kaduna State Government, basketball stakeholders, and the business community have been implored to invest in sports activities as a means to address youth restiveness and generate employment opportunities within the state.

Coordinator of the Kaduna City Basketball League, KCBL, Mr. Hassan Sufyan Abdullahi dropped this hint at the sidelines of the kick off of the maiden edition of the event at Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna.

He said the event does not only give the youth an opportunity to showcase their talent, but also provides the State an avenue to select out of the players, of all levels of national competition via representation.

According to him, it also provides an enabling atmosphere for vendors of different commodities to display their goods and services for sale.

Mr. Sufyan explained that the event would last for nine weeks out of which an all star game for the best players in the tournament and veterans from the State will compete, and also play offs to take place at the end of the tournament to determine the winner.

The coordinator revealed that a total of twenty teams were engaged in the competition, with fourteen being male teams and the remaining six being female teams.
