Kano State Fire Service says fire has destroyed six permanent, four improvised shops, at Kasuwar Rimi Market in Kano Municipal local government area.

This was contained in a statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer, Kano state Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, and made available to Radio Nigeria in Kano.

He said the incident occurred on Wednesday night.

According to him, the agency received a distress at about 08:40p.m, from one Magaji Umar that, there was a fire outbreak at Rimi market, where mattress, beds and carpentry materials were sold.

He explained that, on receiving the information, a team was quickly mobilized to the scene at about 08:49p.m, to quench the fire to avoid spreading to other shops.

Saminu highlighted that, six permanent and four temporary shops, were completely razed by the inferno, while one public convenient was slightly burnt.

The Public Relations Officer hinted that, no injury or death was recorded during the unfortunate incident.

He attributed the fire to electric spark, from the improvised structure, and advised traders to cross check, and ensure that they switch off all electrical appliances, and disconnect from source before leaving the market.
