Nigeria Police Force says it has made adequate security deployment of officers and men for effective security coverage throughout Borno state during the eid celebrations.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer ASP Sani Shatambaya explains that the Command will intensify high visibility patrols, stop and search, intelligence gathering within the period and beyond.

It adds that patrol teams have also been deployed to major highways in the state to ensure security of travellers and commuters.

“In furtherance of the forthcoming Eid-il-Kabir sallah celebrations slated for 28th June, 2023, the Borno State Police Command wishes to reiterate and assure the public especially Muslim faithful of its commitment towards ensuring a crime-free Sallah celebration” the statement stresses.

The statement maintains that acting commissioner of police who is equally the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Haruna Yahaya directs that the arrangement will cover all the praying grounds, malls and recreational centers where large numbers of people are expected to gather.

The PPRO announces that in view of the security arrangements, there will be restriction of vehicular movement between Seven in the morning and twelve noon on Sallah day which will include the use of motor vehicles, tricycles and bicycles except those on essential duties.

Muslim faithful are therefore advised to pray at Eid prayer grounds close to their homes, and to ensure they go early enough for security screening.

The statement warns youths who carry knives and other dangerous weapons to prayer grounds or recreational centers to desist or facing the full wrath of the law.

The acting Commissioner of Police enjoins members of the public to be law abiding and security conscious at all times and equally report any suspicious person(s), movements to the nearest police station.
