Commissioner of Police Nasarawa State Command Mr Maiyaki Baba has ordered immediate deployment of 5750 personnel across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state to provide security during the Eid el Kabir celebration.

A statement by Police Public Relations Officer in the state DSP Ramhan Nansel, says the police in collaboration with other security agencies had stepped up intensive surveillance patrol of highways and areas identified as flash points for criminal activities in the state.

The statement further explained that security agencies had been adequately briefed on the need to remain vigilant with focus on worship and recreational centres as well as relaxation spots during the Sallah celebration.

It calls on groups or individuals contemplating to take advantage of the celebration to indulge in crimes to shelve their plans as security agencies would deal decisively with perpetrators of acts that would breach the peace of the state during and after the celebration.

It adds that residents of the state should not hesitate to reach out to the police using the telephone numbers provided to the public and report any suspicious movements and activities around them for prompt response.
