Mallam Nuhu Ribadu on Monday assumed duty as the National Security Adviser with a firm commitment to subduing insecurity and bringing stability to Nigeria.

Appointed by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, Ribadu succeeded retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno.

In his address, Ribadu emphasised that President Tinubu’s administration carries the weighty responsibility of ensuring the security and stability of Nigeria, fostering peace in all regions of the country and expressed his intention to continue the ongoing efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving these goals.

Ribadu underlined the importance of unity in accomplishing the current administration’s vision for a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.

He stressed that securing the nation was a continuous process and pledged to evaluate previous actions taken to combat insecurity in order to build upon them.

Former NSA, Monguno, praised Ribadu’s qualifications and deep understanding of the complex security challenges facing Nigeria and expressed confidence in Ribadu’s capacity to overcome any obstacles, given his extensive experience in various positions.

Acknowledging the evolving security landscape of the 21st century, Monguno emphasised the need for a multifaceted approach in dealing with terrorists and insurrectionists and urged the staff to extend the same level of support and cooperation to Ribadu as they had given him.
