Kebbi State Urban Development (KUDA), has warned developers to avoid erecting buildings on drainages in urban cities across the state to avoid flooding.

It equally called on people to stop dumping of refuse in drainages to allow free floor of water when its rains.

General Manager of the Agency, Malam Aliyu Umar, who gave the warning while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Birnin Kebbi said that, the agency has commenced disealting of drainages across the state capital to avoid flooding.

According to him, during dry season, people have the habit of dumping refuse in drainages that can result to blockage and cause flooding during rainny .

He noted that, some developers also erect buildings on drainages which will not be tolerate by the agency and calling on them to stop.

The General Manager, told Radio Nigeria that, the agency embarked on such exercise annually during the immediate past administration and the present administration has also continue with the execise.

Mallam Aliyu Umar added that, the agency is hoping to commenced similar exercise in urban cities in the state.
