The Independent Electoral Commission INEC Returning officer for Yobe state Governorship Election and Vice Chancellor Federal University, Kashere Professor Umar Pate has declared the result of the just concluded Governorship Election in the state.

According to Professor Umar Pete, the All Progressive Congress Governorship candidate and the current Governor Mai Mala Buni has scored the highest votes of 317,113 defeating his closest rival Shariff Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP who scored 124,259 votes while the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP candidate Alhaji Garba Umar came third witt 14,246 votes.

With this development, Governor Mai Mala Buni has secured the mandate to serve his second and final term as the executive governor of Yobe state.

The remaining political parties out the Eleven that participated in the Yobe state Governorship election include Action Alliance AA, African Democratic Congress ADC, Action Democratic Party ADP, Alliance Peoples Movement APM and All Peoples Party APP.

Others are Labour Party LP, Social Democratic Party SDP and Youngs Progressives Party YPP.

Meanwhile the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP has rejected the Yobe state Governorship Election result sighting irregularities like over voting, vote buying, campaign on election day among others

The spokesman of the NNPP in Yobe state Ibrahim Garba Muhammed said the party would challenge the result in court.
