In an effort to ensure a hitch free Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has deployed AIG Election Zone 7, AIG Aishatu Abubakar to oversee and coordinate security arrangements for elections in Niger State.
Similarly, other Senior Police officers were equally deployed to supervise security arrangements in the three senatorial districts of the state to ensure its success.
This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Minna by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun.
According to the statement, the Senior Police Officers are; Commissioner of Police, Susan Horsefall, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Aina Emmanuel to Niger South, Commissioner of Police, Kayode Adetumbi and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Barayilmil Samaila to Niger North.
Others include Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sarah Ehindero, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abubakar and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Abdulkadir are deployed to Niger East Senatorial District.
The AIG also had an interactive session with senior officers and DPOs of the Command where she directed them to exhibit high level of maturity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger state, Mr Ogundele Ayodeji, had earlier directed Area Commanders, and DPOs to ensure adequate security coverage of all polling units/IDPs voting centres in the State by deploying police and other security agencies under the inter-agency consultative committee for election security having undergone series of training and retraining on standard operational guidelines.
The personnel will equally be deployed to escort sensitive and non-sensitive election materials to various Local Government Councils and Wards, as well as other layers of deployment for visibility policing and confidence-building patrol at every nooks and crannies of Niger state.
