Singer R. Kelly will serve an additional 20years in prison on top of his existing 30-years sentence.

Following a trial in New York, Kelly was sentenced to three decades in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering in June 2022.

Several months later, he was convicted of enticing minors for sex and creating child sexual imagery in a second federal trial in Chicago.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for those crimes, but 19 of them will be served concurrently with the previous sentence.

If served in full, he will be behind bars until he is in his mid-80s.

Prosecutors had recommended Kelly serve 25 years in prison, consecutively to his New York sentence, calling him a sexual predator who used his fame and wealth to abuse his victims and has shown no remorse, according to WLS.

According to WLS, Kelly’s attorney argued that the fact that Kelly had been mistreated as a youngster deserved leniency and requested for a term of 10 years to be served concurrently with his New York sentence.

At his second federal trial, the 55-year-old musician was convicted guilty in September.

The earlier investigation that led to Kelly’s acquittal in a 2008 state child pornography trial in his hometown of Chicago had various child pornography, sex abuse, and obstruction charges.
