The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun the distribution of sensitive materials to some local government areas in Borno state. 

Inspecting the materials at the Central Bank office in Maiduguri, the Resident Electoral Commissioner Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim said the Commission has taken delivery of all the sensitive and non-sensitive materials needed for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

According to him, local government areas from the Southern part of the state and some liberated local government areas will receive their consignment and depart for their respective local government areas Thursday afternoon while the remaining local governments will leave early morning on Friday. 

” We are deploying by road and we have made adequate arrangement as far as security is concerned to escort this men and material to their respective local governments and upto to the polling unit level ” The REC stated. 

Alhaji Ibrahim said robust security arrangements have been made to escort the materials to twenty five local government areas where elections will be conducted.

He explained that the remaining two local governments, Guzamala and Abadam will conduct their election in neighbouring Nganzai and Mobbar local governments respectively. 

The distribution exercise was conducted in the presence of security agencies, international and domestic observers and representatives of various political parties.
