Election: NSCDC Deploys Over 2,300 Personnel In Jigawa

Jigawa state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has ordered the immediate deployment of 2,350 officers and men to provide effective security coverage across the 27 Local government areas in the state.  

The Public Relations Officer of the command, CSC Adamu shehu disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Dutse the state capital.

According to him, the state commandant gave the deployment directive through the Deputy Commandant Operations, DCC Oladiji Zubair.

He explained that, the personnel will ensure adequate security before, during and after the election exercise. 

CSC Adamu Shehu said, officers and men are deployed to manned various polling and voting points, collation centres, INEC offices as well as other strategic places. 

He said government buildings and installations will adequately be protected through 24hr effective surveillance, credible intelligence and monitoring against vandalisation. 

Adamu Shehu noted that, the strategy of protecting voters, INEC personnel staff, sensitive and nonsensitive materials and critical National Assets and Infrastructure  will strictly be adhered to and enforced in tandem with NSCDC Standard Operational Procedures.

He said, the deployed personnel are to work hand in hand with relevant security agencies in the State to ensure smooth conduct of the election exercise. 

The PRO said, rapid response Squad will be stationed at the state and area Commands for speedy response to emergencies while Mobile and Static patrol teams will also be mounted and strategically positioned at various entry and exit routes to assist in the enforcement of vehicular movement restriction order. 

The State Commandant urged his men to be civil and abide by the rules of engagement which include the use of minimal force where necessary, exhibition of high level of Professionalism, Zero tolerance to corrupt practices and Non-partisanship among others in their conducts as contained in the Personnel Code of Conduct.

He further called on parents and party leaders to warn their wards and members respectively against all forms of electoral offences and violence capable of disrupting the polls and relative peace enjoyed in the State. 

He emphasized that the Command will not hesitate to apprehend anyone found culpable of fomenting trouble and violation of the electoral act.
