Director General of the Michael Imodu National Institute for Labour Studies INILS Comrade Issa Aremu wants elder statesmen to guard against utterances and indulging in activities that will unnecessarily hit up the polity.

Comrade Issa Aremu made this known at a wellness event organised in Kaduna to mark his sixty second birthday anniversary with the theme “keeping fit to strengthen democracy in Nigeria”.
Comrade Aremu who was reacting to the endorsement of the Labour Party Presidential candidate by a former President said those who were regarded as statesmen must remain apolitical.

The Director General of the Michael Imodu National Institute for Labour Studies maintained that the electorates should be allowed to vote candidates based on integrity, competence and track record of service delivery.

He further commended all the Presidential candidates for engaging in robust debates on how to move Nigeria forward but however advocated control in respect of personal attacks.

The DG of the institute who is also a foremost labour leader in Nigeria canvassed the collection of PVCs to enable eligible voters to participate in the upcoming election.

He stressed that Nigeria had over the years consolidated her democracy by ensuring a seamless electoral process, stressing that the smooth conduct of this year’s general election would further confirm the country as the biggest democracy in Africa.
