Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment -AGILE is targeting three hundred and fifty one thousand girls in its Life Skills program in Public Secondary Schools before the end of 2025 in Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State AGILE Component Lead of Life and Digital Skills Training, Sani Muhammad Aliyu stated this during a stakeholders meeting in kaduna.

Sani Muhammad explained that the Life Skills program targeted adolescent girls from at least three hundred and fifty one school across the state using a safe space approach method.

“the project is using safe space as a platform to reach young girls and help them build confidence that will ensure their empowerment through training on leadership, negotiations, grievance redress, reproductive health, puberty, nutrition among others”, he said.

He stressed that AGILE had continued to bridge gap in bringing succour to the girl child and their caregivers in critical areas for self sustainance.

In his remark, the Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State ministry of Education Dr Haliru Musa Soba said the Safe Space Life Skills initiative would promote conducive learning environment.

Dr Haliru Soba tasked the participating school principals to be conversant with the concept of ‘Safe Space’ and ensure that the training they would give to the benefiting students was context related.

“If you are not able to translate all these terms to local languages,that may create problems.they must get the right translation according to the local context and then try and teach them effectively “

“We are not trying to review the curriculum but we are doing some sort of training to help the girls in our quest to empower them and have hygienically convinient environment for them”,he concludes

The stakeholders meeting aimed at incorporating the Life Skills Safe Space initiative in public schools timetable in the state and had in attendance one hundred and fifty eight principals and vice principals from across twenty Local government areas of the state.
