Bandits have killed eleven and kidnapped more than hundred people at Dan Gari and Gatawa villages of Sabon Birni Local Government Area Sokoto state.

Confirming the attack, a member of Sokoto state House of Assembly, representing the area, Aminu Almustapha Boza said bandits attack was currently a daily routine in Sabon Birni , Goranyo and Gada Local Government Areas of Sokoto state.

When contacted through a telephone call, the Goranyo Local Government Chairman, Abdulwahab Yahya Goranyo told Radio Nigeria that the recent attack happened in the night where about 60 people were kidnapped in different villages of the local government.

The Chairman however expressed worry that in recent times, the total number of kidnapped victims cannot be ascertain due to reoccurring attacks happening in the area.

Also in Gada, a neighbouring LGA to Goranyo, another state House Member from the area, Kabiru Dauda said within three days more than 50 people were also taken away by the bandits.

Efforts to contact Police public Relations officer was not successful.

However, at the end of the year conference with police tactical and operational commanders in the state, the Police Commissioner, Muhammad Usaini Gumel said they recorded success in the fight against insurgency and assured that the command is working out modalities towards ensuring security and peaceful conduct of 2023 general elections in the state.
