A report from Taraba State says Christmas was celebrated peacefully and Christians attended church services at their various churches.
Our reporter who also covered some church activities in Jalingo, the state capital reports that some Christian faithful went to the church service as early as seven o’clock on Sunday morning.
In his sermon, the Resident Pastor of the Reformed Church of Christ for Nations (RCCN) Magani in the Jalingo LGA of the state, Reverend Elisha Eyab who read from Isiah chapter nine verse six titled his message the “Prince of Peace”.
He said it is a piece of good news as the message had it that Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, and identified three dimensions of peace that one can live with.
Some Christian faithful who attended the church service described this year’s Christmas celebration as wonderful and pray for love, joy, and peaceful coexistence in not only the state but the nation as a whole.
However, Pastor Skwaila Maigoge of the Life and Destiny Church also at Magani in Jalingo in an interview with Journalists said his sermon was titled “Keys to Living Responsibly” where he reminded the congregation of the aim that God sent Jesus Christ to the world.
Pastor Skwaila Maigoge also revealed that when Jesus Christ came, he mentioned three things as the problems of humanity that comprised what to wear, eat, and drink.
Also, our Reporter observed that Christians were taking food and drinks to their non-Christian neighbors and friends, as well as visiting their loved ones as part of the celebration.
It was also observed that security operatives were stationed at various points including the entrances of churches, according to media situation reports, it was also the same at all the 16 LGAs of the state.
A song was sung by the choir group during the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ at the Reformed Church of Christ for Nations (RCCN) Magani.
