Zamfara Police Repel Attack, Recovers Arms

Police tactical operatives have killed eleven terrorist bandits, recovered two AK-47 rifles, cutlasses and repelled bandits attack on highway in Zamfara state.

This was revealed by the state police command in a press release signed and made available to Radio Nigeria in Gusau by the police public relations officer (PPRO), SP Shehu Mohammed.

The PPRO said police tactical Operatives who responded to distress call in collaboration with Vigilante regarding an ambush by a large number of bandits on a Hilux Vehicle conveying two Chinese Nationals and their Police escort, while on their way to assess an ongoing project in Maradun Local Government of the state.

According to him, the victims of the ambush sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds and were rushed to Federal Medical Center, Gusau for treatment where one of them named Fan Yu, Male, a Chinese Nationale was later confirmed dead by a medical Doctor, while others were responding to treatment.

SP Shehu noted that the Command had deployed additional Operatives to the area to compliment the ongoing operations by the joint security operatives to restore normalcy and apprehend the fleeing assailants.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf had commiserated with the families of the deceased and assures that effort was ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act so as to face the full wrath of the law.

Similarly, SP Shehu revealed that the Police Tactical Operatives deployed along Gusau – Tsafe – Yankara road received a distress call about bandits’ plan to block the highway and kidnap innocent commuters near Kucheri village and engaged in serious gun fight by the police but due to superior firepower abandoned their mission and ran into back to forest

The Command appealed for continuous support and collaboration from members of the public by giving timely and credible information on activities of bandits and other criminal elements terrorizing the good people of Zamfara state.
