Indigenes of Ira Community in Oyin Local Government Area of Kwara State have been urged to invest their resources for the socio-economic development of the area.

Chairman of Ilorin Descendants Union IDU, Kaduna State Chapter, Yunus AbdulWaheed Oyeleke made the call at a summit organised for Ira indigenes resident in Kaduna State.

Yunus AbdulWaheed Oyeleke explained that the essence of the summit was to enlighten Ira sons and daughters in Nigeria and the diaspora on the abundant resources that abound in the area.

He maintained that Ira was blessed with a fertile land that produces agricultural products in large proportions such as cocoa, kola nut, cassava, cashew, and yam among others.

The Chairman also stressed the need for indigenes of Ira to invest in social amenities such as housing, roads, schools, hospitals among others, having reclaimed the land after about forty-five years of legal tussle.

In a paper presentation at the summit, a lecturer at the Kaduna Polytechnic, Engineer Oyeleke Brown advocated for a paradigm shift from industrial agriculture to sustainable agriculture in response to climate change and global warming.

Engr Oyeleke Brown noted that at the end of the summit, a communique would be drafted on various fields of human endeavours to serve as a blueprint for adoption towards progress and development of Ira land.
