Independent National Electoral Commission in Kaduna says it has registered four million , four hundred and eleven thousand , seven hundred and twenty three voters so far .

Resident Electoral Commissioner , Dr. Mahmuda Isah made this known during a stakeholders meeting in Kaduna .

He said the registration took place from June 2021 to July 2022, stating that distribution of the permanent voters card has reach sixty percent.

Dr. Mahmuda Isah said all eligible and valid registrants can collect their PVCs from 9:00am to 3:00pm daily , including Saturdays and Sundays .

The commissioner said distribution of PVCs kicks off from 12th December 2022 , to 22nd December 2022 in all 774 Local Government areas offices of INEC Nationwide , adding that the aim was prevent abuse of the cards by unscrupulous persons while emphasising that collection of the PVC was only by lawful owners and not by proxy .

He noted that total number of registration areas and wards stands at two hundred and fifty five, while polling units are eight thousand and twelve, across the twenty three local government areas .

Also speaking, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Yekini Ayoku Who was represented by Deputy Commissioner, Operations Mamman Giwa said that various mechanisms will be put in place to adequately tackle the issue of security in Kaduna throughout the electioneering period .

He explained that protection of electoral materials and manpower will be taken care of by the command and commended the level maturity and cordial relationship between political parties in the state.

DCP Mamman Giwa remarked that the Kaduna State Police command in its bid to ensure peaceful campaigns and elections had an interface with candidates vying for gubernatorial , senatorial, house of representatives offices and others to agree on peaceful conduct .
