The new Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology Minna Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta has expressed concern that inspite of about  forty years of it’s existence as university it is only able to accommodate three thousand three hundred and four students out of the over twenty six thousand due to shortage of accomodation at the campus. 

He was speaking at his inaugural speech as the eighth substantive Vice Chancellor of the university held at the Gidan kwano campus in Minna Niger state.

Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta described the issue as a major challenge that requires urgent solution given the security and social challenges associated with vast majority of it’s students living off campus.

He however appealed to alumni friends and other stakeholders that have the means at their disposal to come to their aid through public private partnership arrangements to provide hostels accomodation for the students to ease their hardship.

On Internally Generated Revenue IGR Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta said he will redouble efforts at improving the revenue drive through blocking of all leakages and wastages to augment whatever comes from the Federal Government for maximum benefit.

The new Vice Chancellor who promised to ensure that Federal University of Technology Minna is globally recognised along the path of academic excellence progress and positive development also appreciated the outgoing Vice Chancellor Prof Abdullahi Bala for his contribution to the growth and development of the university in the last five years.

In his speech Pro Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council FUT Minna Prof Olu Obafemi said the gathering is a bye product of a metriculous selection process that brought in the new Vice Chancellor and gave an assurance that they wiil continue to keep the flag of the university high.

Outgoing Vice Chancellor Prof Abdullahi Bala called on members of council staff and students of the university to extend the support and cooperation given to him to the new Vice Chancellor to enable him succeed in his new assignment.

The new Vice Chancellor Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta was sworn in by the university legal officer Evelyn Usaini at a colorful ceremony.
