Federal government has been urged not to allow the use of mercenaries in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents and bandits in the country.

A security expert, Dr. Jimoh Ayinla made the call while speaking with journalists on the state of the nation in Ilorin.

He advised federal government to weigh the consequential effects of inviting and relying on mercenaries in the fight against terrorism, insurgency and Boko Haram.

Dr Ayinla warned that as a sovereign nation, Nigeria’s integrity should not be compromised for whatever reason.

He said government should provide more modern war equipment and better welfare packages for the members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, as incentives to further motivate them to tackle the insurgents headlong.

Dr. Ayinla however, admonished Nigeria’s security chiefs to stop unfolding strategies to be employed in combating the menace.
