Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has renewed his commitment to rebuild critical infrastructure destroyed during the more than decade-long Boko Haram insurgency.

Governor Zulum made the commitment at a ceremony to mark the sixty-second Independence anniversary in Maiduguri.

Represented by his Deputy Alhaji Umar Kadafur, the Governor said his administration had in the last three years strengthen resettlement and recovery effort resulting in the voluntary return of internally displaced persons back to the communities.

He expressed his resolve to continue to improve on job creation, access to education, healthcare services, security, access to water supply among others.

Governor Babagana Zulum enjoined the citizenry to remain united and shun all tendencies capable of plunging the nation into chaos and anarchy as the 2023 elections is fast approaching.

“There is the need to explore the avenue to create jobs opportunities to our teeming unemployed youths thereby minimising the upsurge of social vices in the society ” Zulum said.

Correspondent Dauda Iliya reports that this is the first time in more than twelve years the independence day anniversary is celebrated in Borno state.
