Third phase of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC’s Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers has been flagged off in Nyita village, Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The flagging-off ceremony that took place at Nyita primary Healthcare Center was organized by the NYSC, Taraba State office.
The theme for the program is “Bringing Free Healthcare Services to the Rural community”.
In an address, the Taraba State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Anthony Nzoka said the laudable health initiative was organized in line with the vision and mission of the scheme.
He explained that it is also another signpost of the NYSC scheme’s quest to impact positively various host communities in the state and Nigeria at large.
Nzoka maintained that the scheme under the current leadership of Brigadier-General Muhammed Fadah was poised to continue to create and implement strategic policy actions that would go a long way in contributing to national development through community-based interventions at the grassroots.
He noted that the exercise was also aimed to complement the efforts of the state and local governments in providing much-needed healthcare, especially to rural communities to improve their health and living standards.
According to him, all that is needed for the success of the exercise was fully put in place and assured members of the community of the NYSC’s commitment to bringing medical services to their doorsteps.
Mr. Anthony Nzoka, further revealed that the NYSC scheme had also provided community-based initiatives to complement the government’s efforts in the area of sanitation, Tree planting, Skill Acquisition training, and Disease prevention among others.
Some of the activities featured include Health talk and sensitization, Free medical consultation, free medical screening on HIV, and tuberculosis, as well a free Drug dispensary among many others.
Some of the beneficiaries and the community leaders commended the NYSC and promised support for the success of the exercise.
