Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria ALGON in collaboration with experts from Bayero University Kano has organized a two-day capacity-building workshop for the 27 local government Chairmen.

Radio Nigeria reports that the workshop is aimed at educating the participants on the judicious use of ecological fund grants allocated to them by the federal government. 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Commissioner for Local Government Alhaji Kabiru Hassan Sugungu urged the participants to strive to meet the yearning and aspiration of people of the state in line with Badaru led administration’s policy.

According to him, the fund is jointly disbursed with that of the states, but the President later approved to allocate the money directly to the local government’s account.

Also speaking, the Jigawa state ALGON chairman, Alhaji Bala Usman Chamo commended Governor Badaru Abubakar for giving top priority to accountability, transparency and good governance.
