Trial Census: Training Of Field Functionaries In Progress In Zamfara

National Population Commission, NPC Zamfara State Office has commenced the training of 95 facilitators who will train the enumerators for the success of the 2023 census.

The Federal Commissioner of the in charge of the state, Alhaji Muttaka Rini stated this while supervising the ongoing 12 days training program of field functionaries held in Gusau, the Zamfara state capital.

Alhaji Muttaka Rini said the commission had commenced 12 days of training for field personnel from 9 local government areas through the adoption of technological innovations during the process.

The local governments selected are Anka, Bukuyum, Birnin Magaji Bungudu, Gusau, Maru, Shinkafi and Zurmi local government areas of the state.

According to him, the 95 ad-hock personnel have been drawn from the communities within the selected areas to in turn train others who will participate in a trial census expected to be conducted next month.

He, therefore, urged them to demonstrate professionalism, diligence and patriotism during the trial census exercise and also appealed to the public to give them the necessary support to achieve the desired objectives.

The Federal Commissioner who encouraged the personnel to take the training seriously to meet up with the mandate said the trial census would cover one supervisory area in each of the nine selected local governments in the three senatorial zones of the state.

He added that the outcome of the trial phase of the exercise would enable the commission to assess the quality of the enumeration area maps created during the just concluded area demarcation exercise in all the local government areas of the state.

The exercise which was flagged off on Monday would determine the possible Demographic and geographical changes that might have occurred in the EA’s carved between 2016 and 2018.

The Commissioner also explained that 1 coordinator, 9 supervisors and 84 enumerators would work in the trial census while enumerators would move around various communities in the selected EAs, numbering houses and enumerating members of the households.
