The Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai has presented the two recently rescued Chibok girls before newsmen eight years after their abduction by insurgents.

They were rescued alongside their babies who are both about two years of age.

At a brief event at the Command and Control Centre Maimalari Cantonment, The Theatre Commander Major General Christopher Musa said Chibok girls Hauwa Joseph and Mary Dauda were rescued as a result of the massive military operations in Sambisa Forest, Mandara mountain and the Lake Chad area. 

Major General Musa assured that the remaining abducted would be rescued. 

“We are lucky to have been able to recover two of the Chibok girls we are happy at least they are looking more healthier, it has been more traumatic but we are happy and glad that this ones are out, we are putting in more effort to ensure that we get more of them in the general area ” General Musa said.

General Officer Commanding GOC Seven Division Nigerian Army Major General Waidi Shaibu said the two girls were rescued between 12 and 14 June, 2022 around Bama and Ngoshe general of Borno state. 

He remarked that Hauwa and Mary have recieved the needed medical attention and will soon be handed over to the relevant authority.

Speaking to newsmen, the Chibok girls Hauwa Joseph and Mary Dauda expressed gratitude to the military for rescuing them after spending eight years in captivity. 

Both of them said they were married off to insurgents for years adding that there are still other Chibok girls in Sambisa Forest.
