The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) northwest zonal command in Kano, says it has rescued 10 victims of human trafficking on their way to Niger Republic for labour exploitation.

NAPTIP Northwest Zonal Coordinator, Barrister Abdullahi Babale stated this to newsmen in Kano.

According to him, the victims were recruited from Kogi, Delta, Kwara, Oyo, Ondo, Lagos, Ogun and Osun states.

“The Agency in collaboration with the Joint Border Task Force, rescued the 10 victims”

He explained that the rescued victims were between the ages of 9 and 28 years while two of them were males and 8 females.

He stressed that they were currently undergoing counselling in a shelter, while efforts were being made to reunite them with their families.

Radio Nigeria reports that, in March 2022, NAPTIP Northwest zonal command succeeded in rescuing 35 victims of human trafficking on their way to Europe through Kongolom international border, Mai Adua, katsina state.
